Great pleasure but no surprise for the nomination of Pistoia as Italian Capital of Culture 2017 here at Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence. Pistoia is recently expressing a certain dynamism not only in the cultural world but also in the social innovation field.
From 2012 to 2014 the Programme Pistoia Social Business has been holding in the Pistoia’s county. This programme foresees activities promoting the social business. The programme, officially launched the 11th July 2012 by the presence of the Nobel Prize Muhammad Yunus, is realized by Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia e Fondazione Un Raggio di Luce Onlus.
Starting from 2016, Pistoia Social Business Lab will lead the activity, supported by YSBCUF-Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence.
PSBC is a comprehensive program which involves both research and practical activities aiming at the promotion of social enterprise as an efficient solution for social and/or environmental issues on the territory of Pistoia. The whole Program is carried on by Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia e Fondazione Un Raggio di Luce Onlus.
The main objective of the Program is creating a facilitating system for the raising of efficient, sustainable enterprises oriented towards the resolution of social or environmental local problems, through the involvement of students and young people, citizens, local entrepreneurs and local administrators in the activities it carries on.
The programme is composed of many activities:
training projects and intern-ships for groups of students about Social Business
mapping and analysis of Pistoia third sector, focusing mainly on the analysis of about 60 organizations operating in the territory of Pistoia, considering both social cooperatives and social enterprises.
Pistoia Social Business Day, an event focused on social enterprise, third sector and innovation issues and composed by an expository area for the third sector organizations and an academic part with a plenary conference in the morning and thematic workshops in the afternoon.
