Prof. Muhammad Yunus held a Lectio Magistralis at the Italian Chamber of Deputies

On July 10th 2014 the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, professor Muhammad Yunus held a Lectio Magistralis entitled : “Social Business: a Sustainable way to Solve Society’s Most Pressing Problems” at the Italian Parliament. The lecture was introduced by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini.
During his speech, Professor Yunus mentioned the experience of the Yunus Social Business Centre University of Florence and the Pistoia Social Business City Program as good practices for the promotion of Social Business.
The Scientific Director of ARCO, Prof. Mario Biggeri and the Executive Director Enrico Testi attended the lecture.
At the end, Professor Yunus met Ignazio Marino, the Mayor of Rome, who declared his interest in the Social Business as a strategy to solve youth unemployment.


In the following days (11th and 12th July) professor Yunus was invited by Pope Francesco at the Seminar entitled “The Global Common Good: Towards a More Inclusive Economy” at the Vatican City. Professor Yunus discussed then with Pope Francesco about how Social Business could integrate the spiritual sphere within the expected profound renewal of the economic policy.
