December 19th took place the visit of Professor  Pradeep Kumar Ray to the city of Pistoia. He is a founder member of Yunus Social Business Centre at the University of New South Wales in Australia, a Centre that promotes the concept of Social Business as a way to tackle social or environmental problems.

In Pistoia Professor Pradeep visited some local Social Businesses, such as Giardineria Italiana, a social cooperative created in 1999 by the entrepreneur Andrea Mati that provides services to the maintenance of high quality gardens.

Professor Pradeep was in Pistoia with the Yunus Social Business Centre team, the first Centre in Italy accredited by the Yunus Centre in Dhaka -founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus – that set up with Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia and Fondazione Un Raggio di Luce Onlus the Pistoia Social Business City Program in 2012. This program has the objective to promote the culture of social entrepreneurship in the Province of Pistoia.

The visit of Professor Pradeep is an important sign of the growing interest for Pistoia Program, a program that creates links –also at international level- with other Social Business experiences.
